The Asus Zenbook UX305 line of notebooks are thin, light, and relatively affordable. You can pick up some models for as little as $599.

But the cheapest models feature Intel Core M processors. If you want a bit more power, Asus offers some models with Core i5 chips at higher prices… but not much higher.

The Asus Zenbook UX305LA with a Core i5 Broadwell processor, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and a 13.3 inch full HD display has a list price of $850, but right now Amazon is offering the notebook for $715.

Note that this model isn’t fanless, lacks a touchscreen, and doesn’t have a backlit keyboard. But it’s still got some pretty great specs for a notebook in this price range.

  1. A broadwell processor and lack of touch display for over 700$ is far from being an acceptable price range. There are similar products in the 400$ to 500$ range offering mostly the same.

Im far more interested anyway in the new core m7 fanless products. It redefines mobile. But apparently manufacturers look like being sabotaging the theoretical superior battery span, using cheaper smaller batteries.

    1. Have any examples? This is by far the best price I’ve seen for a model with these specs that weighs less than 3 pounds.
