Earlier this year Dell launched an XPS 13 thin and light laptop with super-slim bezels around the display, allowing the company to fit a 13.3 inch screen into a laptop closer to the size of a typical 11 or 12 inch model.

Now Dell is getting ready to update the XPS 13 family, and new models with use 6th-gen Intel Core “Skylake” chips instead of 5th-gen “Broadwell” processors.

We first spotted evidence of the Skylake models in August. Now Dell has given us a better look thanks to a product listing on its website (which has been removed).

The new model looks a lot like the like its predecessor, but under the hood the new Dell XPS 13 9350 features a choice of Intel COre i3-6100U, Core i5-6200U, or Core i7-6500U processors.

Like the existing models, the new XPS 13 will be available with a choice of a 1920 x 1080 pixel matte, non-touch display or a 3200 x 1800 pixel glossy touchscreen.

Dell will also offer the laptop with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage, which is twice as much memory and storage as you can get with a Broadwell model, although you may need to opt for a model with the QHD+ display in order to get 16GB of memory or 1TB of storage. Don’t expect that model to be cheap.

The laptop’s battery has been upgraded from 52 Wh to 56 Wh and the new notebook features two USB 3.0 ports and a Thunderbolt 3/USB Type-C port.

Pricing and availability haven’t officially been announced yet, but German website WinFuture reports that the new Dell XPS 13 9350 should be available in November, with European prices starting at about 1139 Euros. I wouldn’t be surprised if US pricing is much lower: an entry-level Dell XPS 13 with a Broadwell processor sells for about $799.

  1. I did ordered one on 9th Oct but still haven’t get yet. Firstly they said EDD is 3rd Nov and now it is postponed to 30th Nov. I have no idea what is happening in the production.

  2. I just received an exchange-offer for my broken XPS 13 9343, and it magically contained the all new 9350. Delivery date is supposed to be November 2. i7-6500U, 16GB of RAM and 512GB SSD, including a one-year onsite warranty clocks in at about US$ 2150. The order-overview doesn’t say anything about USB-C or Thunderbolt, however.

  3. I tried the XPS13 but returned it. The fan wouldn’t stop running and it’s loud. I bought the Ubuntu version; X11 at QHD resolution was absurdly unusable — too small! — but the fan problems (and some type/icon size problems) persisted even after installing Win8.1.

  4. I love the XPS13, in theory, and would have bought the $799 model. Thing is I’m in the UK and dell seem to not want to sell any here as the cheapest model they sell is literally more than TWICE what I’d have to pay ship a brand new one from the US, including paying tax on it. It looks like that’s not going to change a lot judging by the 1139 Euro entry price. SCREW YOU DELL!!

    1. Somehow their store for Germany is f***cked up atm. I only see the most expensive model (€ 1649), and cannot configure anything.

    2. Yeah, all Europeans have the same issue. Dell should REALLY bring the Non-touch, FHD version this time. I am looking for a laptop, and will not buy an XPS unless it’s that model. Not just because of the matte and non-touch, but because if I have to get one of the more expensive models. I’d rather go directly to the ASUS UX305UA & UB that are just about to arrive.

  5. Glad the they’re keeping the matte option! I’m hoping for a matte/8/256 model, sold with Ubuntu, to run Ubuntu MATE.

(Also, small mistake: “1TB of RAM”.)
