Microsoft is holding an event on October 6th, where the company is expected to unveil a next-gen Surface Pro tablet and the two most powerful Windows phones to date. Not sure you believe all the leaks and rumors? No problem: Microsoft may have just accidentally issued a bit of confirmation.

The Microsoft Store UK website now has some details about the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL smartphones.

You can’t actually view prices or detailed specs for either phone yet. But if you look at the list of Lumia phones, you’ll find Microsoft’s newest phones at the bottom of the page, along with thumbnail photos and an overview of some of the most important specs.

The website confirms that both phones feature Windows 10 software, 32GB of built-in storage, microSDXC cards capable of handling up to 2TB of removable storage, and 20 MP cameras with ZEISS optics.

The Lumia 950 has a 5.2 inch, 2560 x 1440 pixel display, while the Lumia 950 XL has a 5.7 inch screen with the same resolution.

There are some other things we’re pretty sure we know about the phones, but which aren’t mentioned in the website listing (yet):

  • They’re expected to support an optional Display Dock that lets you connect a keyboard, mouse, and display to run Windows apps in desktop mode thanks to the new Continuum for Phone software.
  • The smaller phone is expected to have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor and a 3,000 mAh battery, while the larger phone is expected to have a Snapdragon 810 chip and a 3,300 mAh battery.
  • Both phones should have 3GB of RAM, 5MP front cameras and USB Type-C ports.

I suspect the Microsoft Store will be updated shortly to remove all mention of the Lumia 950 and 950 XL. But the truth is already out there.

  1. “But the truth is already out there”… “the truth is already out there”… “the truth is out there”…
Windows 10 was an inside job!

  2. by Windows apps… they mean modern touch apps? or something like AutoCAD? lack of x86 SoC would imply the former right?

  3. These look pretty good. Hopefully they are not more expensive than the Nexus 5X and 6P. Microsoft is already going to have a hard time selling these versus Android and iPhone so hopefully they don’t try to charge more than the other high end phones.

  4. Whoops my derriere. This is just the usual attempt to drum up Apple-like energy.

  5. The amount of times that companies “accidentally” release products on their website too early forces me to assume this is now just a regular marketing strategy.

    1. Reminds me of when companies send out black friday emails saying: prices LEAKED.
