Nearly two years after introducing the original Transformer Book T100, Asus is launching an updated model of this low-cost, 2-in-1 tablet that can function as a notebook.
The new Asus Transformer Book T100HA features a 10 inch display and a detachable keyboard dock, like its predecessor. But the new model has a more powerful Intel Atom Cherry Trail processor, a USB Type-C connector, and it ships with Windows 10 software.
The original 10 inch Transformer Book offered a decent balance of price and performance thanks to an Intel Atom Bay Trail processor, long battery life, and the inclusion of a keyboard at a time when most companies were not including keyboard covers in the base price of their tablets.
Now Asus is updating the lineup with a new model sporting an Atom x5-Z8500 Cherry Trail processor, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage.
The new tablet has a 1280 x 800 pixel IPS display, 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, a micro HDMI port, microSD card reader, headset jack, and USB Type C 3.1 port (although the tablet uses a micro USB port for charging). There’s also a full-sized USB 2.0 port on the keyboard dock.
The tablet measures about 10.4″ x 6.9″ x 0.3″ and weighs about 1.3 pounds, while the keyboard dock is 0.4 inches thick and weighs about one pound.
