If Acer’s 8 inch gaming tablet caught your eye, the company’s got another device that might be of interest: a 6 inch gaming phone.

It’s called the Acer Predator 6, and it features a 10-core processor, 4GB of RAM, a 21MP camera, haptic feedback, and four front-facing features.

Acer hasn’t revealed many details about the phone yet, but we know that it’s got a MediaTek processor, which means that it should pack a MediaTek Helio X20 chip (the only 10-core mobile processor announced to date).

That’s a processor that combines two 2.5 GHz ARM Cortex-A72 CPU cores, four 2 GHz Cortex-A53 cores, and four 1.4 GHz Cortex-A53 cores to balance performance and power consumption.

The chip also features ARM Mali-T800 series graphics, support for 802.11ac WiFi, 4G LTE, up to two 13MP cameras, and 4K video recording. There’s also an integrated co-processor for always-on speech recognition and other always-on applications.

There’s no word on how much the Predator 6 will cost, when it will be available, or perhaps more importantly, what kind of battery life the smartphone for gamers will get.

  1. Haptic feedback is interesting. Are we talking rumble or haptic touch? The latter combined with force touch could make for some interesting control possibilities.

  2. A “gaming phone” should have a couple of d-pads on it’s chin and forehead.
However discrete, they’d be worth the design implications.
And they should relay consider turning down the juvenile design elements.

  4. I hope this gets game companies to take Android gaming more seriously. The only games I like playing on Android are still really old games via emulators.

Too bad this phone’s external design looks like it’s targeted towards 10 year olds.

    1. Or maybe Acer thinks only 10 year olds play games. That’d be unfortunate.

    2. Nvidia is the only one taking it seriously even at a loss. They just ported doom3.
