Acer is giving its Aspire R 13 convertible laptop an upgrade. The latest model is available with up to an Intel Core i7 Skylake processor, up to 8GB of RAM, up to 1TB of storage, and up to a 2560 x 1440 pixel touchscreen display.
The new Acer Aspire R 13 should be available in the United States in October for $899 and up.
The R 13 is a 13 inch laptop that becomes a laptop when you tilt the display on its 180-degree carousel-style hinge and fold the screen down over the keyboard. You can also position the screen so that it’s resting above the keyboard, for use in “Ezel” mode. This lets you use an Acer Active Pen to write or draw on the screen without converting it to tablet mode.
The new 3rd-gen model will be available with an Intel Core i5-6200U or Core i7-6500U processor, a 1920 x 1080 pixel or 2560 x 1440 pixel display, and it can be configured with two solid state disks in a RAID-0 setup.
The system features a Thunderbolt 3 port with support for transfer speeds up to 40 Gbs and 802.11ac WiFi. Acer says the laptop should get up to 10 hours of battery life when configured with a 1080p display or up to 8 hours of run time for models with 1440p screens.
The Acer Aspire R 13 measures about 13.4″ x 9″ x 0.7″ and weighs 3.5 pounds.
