Intel recently launched the first two chips based on its 6th-gen Core “Skylake” processor, but both of those processors are 91 watt powerhouses designed for desktop computers. Where’s the laptop love?
They’re on the way. And now we have an idea of what to expect, thanks to leaked documents obtained by FanlessTech.
Intel’s new 15 watt Skylake-U series chips will replace the Broadwell-U processors that are currently on the market. Goodbye Core i3-5000 series chips, hellow Core i3-6000 series. And so on.
Here’s a run-down of some of the new processors that should hit the streets in the first half of 2016:
Chip | Speed | Cores | Threads | Graphics |
---|---|---|---|---|
Celeron 3855U | 1.6 GHz | 2 | 2 | Intel HD 510 |
Celeron 3955U | 2 GHz | 2 | 2 | Intel HD 510 |
Pentium 4405U | 2.1 GHz | 2 | 4 | Intel HD 510 |
Core i3-6100U | 2.3 GHz | 2 | 2 | Intel HD 520 |
Core i5-6200U | 2.3 GHz (2.8 GHz Turbo) | 2 | 4 | Intel HD 520 |
Core i5-6300U | 2.4 GHz (3 GHz Turbo) | 2 | 4 | Intel HD 520 |
Core i7-6500U | 2.5 GHz (3.1 GHz Turbo) | 2 | 4 | Intel HD 520 |
Core i7-6600U | 2.6 GHz (3.4 GHz Turbo) | 2 | 4 | Intel HD 520 |
The Core i5-6300U and Core i7-6600U chips are also eligible for Intel vPro.
You can find more details at FanlessTech, which also reports that 28 watt Skylake chips with Intel Iris graphics will be available in early 2016.
That 3955U chip looks very interesting. Should make a great HTPC barebone setup.
Please tell me that i see correctly and only 28W will arrive in 2016, i hope skylake will arrive soooon.
