Microsoft is expected to launch two new premium smartphones soon, featuring high-resolution displays, high-quality cameras, and Windows 10 software. The upcoming Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL are also expected to be some of the first devices to support “continuum for phones,” which is Microsoft software that allows you to connect a keyboard, mouse, and display to your phone in order to run apps in desktop-style windows.

Basically your next phone could also be used like a desktop PC.

Microsoft hasn’t officially introduced the phones yet, but a series of leaks has given us a pretty good idea of what kind of hardware to expect. And now we have a pretty good idea what they’ll look like too.

The Lumia 950 is a 5.2 inch phone that’s code-named Talkman, while the Lumia 950 XL is a 5.7 inch model that’s code-named Cityman. They both feature 2560 x 1440 pixel displays, 3GB of RAM, 20MP rear cameras with ZEISS lenses, 5MP front cameras, USB Type-C connectors, Qi wireless charging support, 32GB of storage, and microSD card readers.

The Talkman model is expected to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor and a 3,000 mAh battery, while the Cityman allegedly has a Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor and a 3,300 mAh battery.

Microsoft is also expected to include an active digitizer in the larger model, letting you use a Surface Pen with the phone.

We’ve seen a leaked photograph of the Talkman model before, and now Neowin’s Brad Sams has posted a picture of Cityman in the wild. Not to be outdone, Evan Blass posted detailed renderings of both models, showing the front, back, and side of the phones.

While both phones have ZEISS Pureview cameras, the design of the Lumia 950 and 950 XL are a little different, with the larger model integrated the LED flash into the camera section, while the smaller phone has an LED flash off to the side.

  1. Desktop mode with an ARM SOC…come on MS, give me a surface phone with a X86 CPU – Here’s looking at you Intel.

  2. Looks great, except that Microsoft hasn’t seemed to have learned consistency yet.

The names suggest two different sizes of the same phone. But the designs are quite different, and even the button layout (and button count) is different.

    1. This is pretty normal though in the industry – I’d say actually the specs are more consistent than most.

      1. I wouldn’t say it’s normal at all. Apple, Samsung, Sony, HTC all make normal and mini versions of their flagship phones, and the designs are always nearly identical.

  3. Hi,
Hey, open your eyes, black white blue colors are not ! Good.but This beautiful ! design, but why not the Golden brown silver colors.

  4. The original iPhone called. It wants its bezel back.
[This coming from a Lumia 1520 owner]

  5. I don’t want a 6 inch phone, but I want the octa-core and any other improvements of the XL. please just make them technically identical except for screen size
