Want to order the latest smartphone online, but don’t want to actually wait for it to arrive? Xiaomi has a solution: the company is using Uber drivers to deliver smartphones to customers in Singapore and Malaysia.

Xiaomi’s Hugo Barra says shoppers can order a Mi Note smartphone and get it delivered “within a few minutes.”

And you thought Amazon’s same-day or 1-hour shipping services were fast.

Xiaomi won’t be offering this service all the time. But the company will hold a series of sales, allowing customers to get nearly instant gratification. The first sale takes place on July 27th.

The company is working with Uber on the promotion… and shoppers will be able to order the Mi Note the same way they would normally call for a car. Just open the app, choose “Xiaomi,” and request a delivery. The credit card you use for your Uber account will automatically be charged.

The Xiaomi Mi Note is a smartphone with a 5.7 inch, 1920 x 1080 pixel display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM, and a 3,000 mAh battery. It sells for under $400.

  1. “And you thought Amazon’s new 1-hour delivery” … could bring you more than a new phone?
