German company Trekstor manufactures a line PC accessories including hard drives and flash drives as well as a few other gadgets such as MP3 players and portable speakers.

Now the company is getting into the mini PC space.

TrekStor already offers a line of Windows tablets, but the company’s most recent computer takes the guts of a tablet and puts them into a small box that you can stick by your TV or monitor.

The TrekStor MiniPC W1 is a small box that measures about 3.8″ x 3.8″ x 0.9″. Under the hood it features an Intel Atom Z3735F Bay Trail processor, 2GB of RAM, and 32GB of eMMC storage.

On the outside of the case you’ll find two full-sized USB 2.0 ports, a micro USB 2.0 port, HDMI, and 10/100 Ethernet jacks, and a microSDXC card reader. The system supports 802.11b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth and ships with Windows 8.1 software, but it should also support Windows 10.

Over the past year or so, we’ve seen a number of small computers with Intel Atom processors and Windows software. The most notable thing about this particular model may be that it comes from a company that has a bit of name recognition in the West… or at least in Europe.

  1. So TrekStor is really a Chinese company with headquarters in Germany. Right? Not that that’s so bad. It means you might get better support, and there is some company presence in a country that actually understands the Rule of Law concept.

    1. Not really, all of the Z3735-powered Windows 8 boxes have eMMC storage.

  2. Hey Brad, how many times have you cut-and-pasted the phrase “Atom Z3735F Bay Trail processor, 2GB of RAM, and 32GB “??? Nothing against you, it is just the industry seems to be stuck in ground hog day. With so many devices having the same specs the only real difference is price. Not good for the market.

    1. It’s cheap… I don’t know why they don’t use x7 or x5 wouldn’t be much more expensive. BTW new Celeron N3150 cost about $100 so it should be like $70 more expensive mini PC. I would buy it. But they will sell that when Skylake will be released… But I’ll want Skylake 😀

      1. Sure the tray price of the CPU is close to the same price, but you have to consider the cost of engineering the board. These chinese companies have this motherboard in 20 different products, all with slightly different cases.

Sure you could make an N3150 powered device, but people would expect different things from it. Like an SSD, instead of the cheap EMMC storage that this thing has. There is alot more to consider than just the tray price of the CPU.

        1. Well yeah. N3150 with 4GB RAM and EMMC 5.1 with price $200 – 250, shut up and take my money.

          1. Sounds like a NUC, Brix, or Asus VivoMini would suit you better. These Z3735 mini PCs are just cheap all in one SOC boards, cheap memory and EMMC.

Wait for the Asus VivoMini UN45H. Its going to be an N3150.

Or you could buy the HP Stream Mini for $179, it comes with 2gb RAM, and a 32gb SSD (not EMMC). You could upgrade it to 4gb RAM, and keep it around $200. The Celeron 2957U is more powerful than the N3150.
