Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 measures 5.6mm (0.22 inches) thick and weighs 389 grams (14 ounces). It features a 5870 mAh battery.

The 8 inch model has a 4,000 mAh battery, also measures 5.6mm thick, and weighs 265 grams, or about 9.3 ounces.

Samsung will offer WiFi-only and 4G LTE models of each tablet.

According to SamMobile, the Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 will sell for 399 Euro and up, while the Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 will cost 499 Euro or more. Odds are that means they’ll run about $399 and $499, respectively, in the United States.

That means the new tablets will be priced about the same as last year’s models, although they’ll have 4:3 aspect ratio displays and a few other changes.

    1. Well, it has physical buttons, which are a reason for buying Samsung. I always feel lost on devices without them, not as much as with iphones and ipads that don’t have the back button in the OS, but almost as much. At twice the price, don’t know.

  1. I’m writing on the 2014 model that just got the update to Lollipop. The new CPU is better, somebody will like the 4:3 display and somebody will like Office. Anything else is hardly an improvement to spend money on. I think I’ll pass and wait for the 2016 model.

  2. At last! About time they decided to address the professional and productivity markets, and with this they can leave the crowded and saturated media consumption market to $100 disposable devices. 4:3 rules, widescreen drools. Something Apple has always understood.

  3. Now that they’ve gimped their flagship tablet for this year which tablet can we look forward to for being a powerhouse?

  4. One suggestion – get current (better) Galaxy Tab S 10.5 while they last – bigger screen, more resolution. Currently they sell for 399 on Amazon
