As promised, Microsoft has released a version of its Surface 3 tablet with support for 4G LTE mobile data connections.

AT&T says it’ll begin offering a 4G Surface 3 tablet starting July 24th.

You can pay for the tablet a few different ways: spend $400 for the tablet when you buy a Lumia smartphone on the AT&T Next plan or pay $30 per month for a Surface 3 on AT&T’s Tablet Installment plan. It takes 20 months to pay off the tablet, which means you’ll end up to spending $600 in a little more than a year and a half.

Or you could just buy a WiFi-only Surface 3 tablet for $499 or more and tether it to your phone’s data connection.

The Surface 3 tablet features a 10.8 inch, 1920 x 1280 pixel display, an Intel Atom z7-8700 Cherry Trail processor, 802.11ac WiFI, Bluetooth 4.0, a microSD card reader, mini DisplayPort, support for optional keyboard covers, and an optional Surface Pen for pressure-sensitive writing or drawing.

Entry-level models feature 2GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, but Microsoft also offers models with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage for $599 and up.

  1. Will this be like the iPad? — the cellular version has the GPS, the WiFi only version does not

  2. I’m waiting for a Verizon compatible one or are these universally compatible with other US carriers?
