The ZTE Nubia Z9 smartphone features a 5.2 inch, 1920 x 1080 pixel display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, up to 4GB of RAM, and up to 64GB of storage.
But the most notable thing about the Nubia Z9 is something you don’t see: bezels on the side of the screen. The phone which ZTE introduced in China last month has a nearly bezel-free design.
Now the company has announced the Nubia Z9 will be available in the US in the third quarter of 2015.
Prices will start at $564 for a carrier-unlocked, contract-free phone with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. ZTE will also offer two higher priced models:
- 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage for $645
- 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, and a fingerprint reader for $725
All three models feature 16MP rear cameras with optical image stabilization, 8MP wide-angle front cameras, 2900 mAh batteries, and Android 5.0 Lollipop software.
Overall it’s a nice looking phone with decent specs on paper. But the prices may be a bit high for shoppers in a country where most customers are used to buying high-priced phones by paying monthly installments to a wireless carrier or contract-free phones that have much lower price tags.
I’ll keep my Oneplus One. I did buy a huawei p8 lite because of promotional offer.
Would love to get my hands on the highest end model. Fingerprint reader placement is much better than competition.
