Verizon will be the first US wireless carrier to offer a version of the Sony Xperia Z4 smartphone this summer.

The Sony Xperia Z4v for Verizon has the same basic specs as the Xperia Z4 Sony unveiled in April, including a 5.2 inch display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB of RAM, and a waterproof design. But the Verizon model has a higher-resolution display, a slightly thicker case, and a bigger battery.

The Sony Xperia Z4 has a 2560 x 1440 pixel IPS display, a 20.7MP rear camera, a 5MP front camera, 32GB of built-in storage, and a microSDXC card slot for removable storage. It has a water and dust-resistant case and can safely be submerged in up to 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes.

The phone measures 8.6mm thick, which is 1.7mm thicker than the original Xperia Z4 and it weighs 160 grams, compared with 144 grams for the  original.

On the bright side, not only does the Verizon model have a 3,000 mAh battery instead of a 2930 mAh battery and a higher-resolution display. It also supports Qi wireless charging.

  1. Z4 also doubles as a portable hand warmer from what I see in the press.

    1. One arm, one leg,…and your soul. Verizon and Sony don’t have good track records with how they treat their customers.

      1. I have a 40 dollar a month unlimited data/BBservices from 2005 from Verizon that I’m grandfathered in. Pay 40 bucks and I usually use about 200GB of data a month on my phone alone. I just have to buy phones outright to not lose it, totally worth every penny. I’d never switch to any other service, plus the best coverage.

Verizon hates me. I’m more than willing to spend 900US on a good phone, though on second thought I think I may ditch Android and go to Windows Phone with that new Cityman phone from Microsoft. As a developer that platform is the most appealing to me. That or maybe I’ll just wait for Samsung Note 5. I dunno yet, this phone does have a big chin and a small screen.

  2. Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor? Isn’t that the networked toaster processor?
