Samsung’s latest Android tablet is one of the first I’ve heard of to feature a 9.6 inch display. But that’s just about the only truly interesting thing about this budget tablet.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab E is launching in Taiwan this month for about $225 and it features generally mediocre specs. There’s no word on if or when the tablet will be available in other countries.
Samsung’s new 9.6 inch tablet features a 1280 x 800 pixel TFT LCD display, a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor, 1.5GB of RAM, and 8GB of storage.
It has a 5,000 mAh battery, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS, but no cellular capabilities. There’s a 5MP rear camera and a 2MP front-facing camera, and the Galaxy Tab E has a microSD card slot for removable storage.
Samsung will ship the tablet with Android 4.4 KitKat, which is starting to look a bit dated.
The tablet measures 9.5″ x 5.9″ x 0.33″ and weighs 1.1 pounds.

225 dollars, most likely means, 240-250 euros price tag in Europe. And for that you get 8 gb of internal storage, same as cheap prestigio tablets, available for 70 euros. I wouldnt be buying this, even with the matress full of euros, which I dont have. Because samsung is beeing insultive with such product moves
The display aspect ratio tells the story: this is a consumer infotainment device. Some people will buy these hoping for decent product life: maybe an Adnoid update or two before it gets orphaned and better reliability than most disposable Chinese knockoffs. I suspect these will end up going for something like $175 USD once discounting begins, and probably last 3 times as long as $70 knockoffs so while not exciting at least it makes sense. Plus with Samsung-scale sales you don’t have to worry about a lack of compatible accessories (cases, chargers, etc.) something people often ignore to their chagrin when they buy no-name.
