Pushbullet is an app that makes it easy to share files or links between a computer and a mobile device… or at least that used to be what it was. You could send a link from your Chrome web browser to your Android device and pick up on your smartphone where you left off on your desktop.

Over the past few years the developers have continued to add new features, support for new platforms, and now Pushbullet is also an instant messaging app too: you can use it to send files to other users and chat with them about photos, documents, links, or other content.

In addition to adding support for instant messaging, the latest update for Pushbullet makes it easier to view you history on a per-contact basis. So whether you want to see your chat history or look for files or links you’ve shared with other users, you can find them in one place.

The update includes new Android and iOS apps, updated browser extensions for Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Opera, a new Windows desktop app, and an updated Pusbullet website.

Since the service is cross-platform, you can chat or share files between Android, Windows, iOS, or other platforms that support the website or browser extensions.

Don’t want a new messaging platform? You can still use Pusbullet to simply share files between your desktop or notebook and your mobile device or share files with others users without using the chat functions.

  1. I tried Pushbullet out for a bit; it was very convenient. If they ever add end-to-end encryption I’d probably start using it again. 🙂

    1. I found it somewhat unreliable. Most the things I send are addresses, so just searching for them signed into Google works pretty much just as well, if not better.

    2. I came to it from mightytext, it wasn’t really a replacement for that so I stopped. Wonder if there’s anything better to match apple’s unified messaging or whatever they call it where you can send texts from your phone using your PC.
