The thing that makes Lifeline for IOS so amazing is its connectivity to Apple Watch. Players feel like they are truly connected to this lost space traveler when they receive transmissions throughout the day on their wrist.
So we asked Big Fish Games if Android Wear support is on the way, and the developer confirmed that this summer Lifeline will be updated for Android Wear so players can fully experience the unique adventure the same way that Apple Watch owners do.
The text-based choose-your-own-adventure game stars a space traveler named Taylor who has crash-landed on a distant moon. His communicator just happens to only be able to reach you. So, your task is to be a friendly voice to a lost and lonely survivor. Sometimes, you will give advice about what the protagonist should do next. Other times, you are there for moral support.
Communication with Taylor happens via notifications sent to your device, which is where the wearable support makes the game really shine. While out to dinner, you may receive an urgent message from Taylor requesting some information about radiation. While at work, you may get a notification from him, just looking for someone to talk to.
The game plays out in real time. So, if Taylor is sleeping, or otherwise occupied, he won’t answer your call. Just as he has to wait for you to respond when you are available, you have to wait for him, too.
The game is engrossing on smartphones and tablets, but makes its mark as a unique experience on wearable devices. Look out for the Android Wear update sometime later this summer.
