The OnePlus One was one of the best phones available with a starting price of $299 or less when it launched in 2014… if you could get your hands on one. OnePlus is a relatively small startup that wasn’t able to keep up with early demand.
Now you don’t need an invite to buy a OnePlus One anymore… but the phone might not be quite as attractive today as it was a year ago. So the company’s running another promotion: during a series of flash sales in the month of June, you’ll be able to save $50 and pick one up for as little as $249.
Update: OnePlus has decided to make the price cut permanent: you don’t need to wait for a flash sale to buy the phone for $50 off its original price.
OnePlus will offer a limited quantity of device at sale prices during each sale. A model with 16GB of storage will sell for $249, while a 64GB model costs $299. When each sale is done, prices go up by $50… until the next sale.
Here’s the schedule:
- June 1 – 12:00 GMT (8 am EST)
- June 2 – 2:00 GMT (10 pm EST -1 day)
- June 3 – 12:00 GMT (8 am EST)
- June 4 – 2:00 GMT (10 pm EST -1 day)
- June 5 – 12:00 GMT (8 am EST)
- June 6 – 2:00 GMT (10 pm EST -1 day)
- June 7 – 12:00 GMT (8 am EST)
When the OnePlus Two launches later this year, the company plans to require invitations again. So while it’s likely there will be a better OnePlus smartphone coming along soon, last year’s model is still a pretty good deal… especially since it’s a lot easier to actually buy.
The OnePlus One features a 5.5 inch, 1920 x 1080 pixel display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM, 802.11ac WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, a 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera, a 3100 mAh battery, and support for several different versions of Android 5.0 including Cyanogen OS 12 and OxygenOS.
