Netflix is rolling out a website redesign today, making the streaming video service’s web site look a lot more like the company’s apps for smartphones, tablets, and smart TV devices.
According to Netflix, this is the first major update to the website in four years, and it’s both faster and designed to make it easier for you to find something to watch quickly.
For the most part the new website lets you browse the Netflix video library without clicking a link and waiting for a new web page to open. Instead you can view information about movies and TV shows through in-line animations and text. Just hover your mouse over a title to see a slideshow of images, as well as a description.
When you do click on a video, you won’t have to wait for a new page to open. Instead you’ll see more information on the same screen, as well as episode lists for TV shows.
Don’t want to spend time slowly scrolling through endless lists of movies? No you can click with a mouse button to advanced a full row without waiting for a scroll to complete.
Netflix says the new website is designed to be used on computers with a mouse, touchpad, or touchscreen.
