As expected, HP is getting ready to launch a new Chrome OS laptop. The HP Chromebook 11 G4 looks a lot like last year’s model, but it has a lower starting price and a few new options.

The biggest difference between the new model and last year’s Chromebook 11 G3 is that the HP Chromebook 11 G4 has a starting price of $199, which is $40 lower than the starting price for the G3.

For $200, you’ll be able to get a notebook with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, an Intel Celeron N2840 Bay Trail processor, and Google’s Chrome operating system. HP will also offer higher-priced models with 4GB of RAM.

Unlike last year’s Chromebook 11 G3, the new HP Chromebook 11 G4 will also be available with up to 32GB of storage and with an optional IPS display with wider viewing angles.

Other features include USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports, HDMI output, a headset jack, a webcam, and 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0.

  1. Any clue as to whether this will be available in the UK? And if so when?

  2. What about an SD card? Really would prefer to be able to increase local storage without taking up a USB port… and also USB storage usually is a bit more awkward anyway.

      1. They should make a 6 or 8GB version so it flies like a Pixel. What would the resolution be on the IPS display? Low resolution 1368×768 should really be outlawed.

        1. On an 11.6″ screen the Pixel density of an HD screen is similar to that of Full HD on a 15.6″ screen, so I think given the price, a regular HD screen is not an unreasonable choice. The IPS is probably more important than a higher resolution for most use cases.
