Asus is unveiling four new tiny desktop computers this week. Three are Windows computers, while the fourth is an updated version of the Asus Chromebox.
The company hasn’t shared many details about its new mini desktops, but here’s what we know so far.
Asus Chromebox CN62
The first Asus Chromebox launched in 2014 and featured a 4th-gen, Intel Haswell processor. This year the company is introducing a new model with a 5th-gen “Broadwell” processor.
Asus says the Chromebox CN62 supports 4K video playback, features 802.11ac WiFi, and uses just 6 watts of power while idle.
Asus VivoMini UN65H
This model is a tiny Windows desktop with an Intel Core processor and Iris Pro graphics, support for an M.2 SSD and/or a 2.5 inch hard drive.
The computer features 802.11ac WiFi.
Asus VivoMini UN45
The VivoMini UN45 should be a little thinner than the UN65H, it’s a fanless system with passive cooling, which means it’ll probably use a less powerful processor.
Asus VivoPC VC65
This Windows model probably won’t be out until late 2015 or early 2016. How do I know that? Because Asus says it’ll feature a 6th-gen Intel Core “Skylake” processor, and those won’t be available until later this year or early next year.
The VivoPC line of desktops are a little bigger than VivoMini systems, and this model will support both solid state and hard disk drives and has RAID support. Asus says you can use the computer as a media PC, a server, or network-attached storage device.
