LG may be getting ready to launch a new Android tablet called the LG G Pad X, and a 4G model may be headed to Verizon.
Neither Verizon nor LG have officially said anything about the tablet yet, but mostly-retired leak artist Evan Blass (@evleaks) has posted a (very) few details as well as a picture of an 8.3 inch version of the tablet.
The picture tells us a few things about the tablet:
- It runs Android 5.x Lollipop.
- It has stereo speakers on the back of the tablet.
- It supports Verizon’s 4G LTE network.
- There are front and rear cameras.
There are still plenty of things we don’t know though. What’s the screen resolution? What kind of processor does it have? How much memory and storage is available? Is there a microSD card slot? How much will the tablet cost? Will it be available exclusively through Verizon in the US? Will there be a WiFi-only model?
It’s also not clear if the G Pad X will only be available with an 8.3 inch display. LG’s current line of G Pad tablets are mid-range devices that come in 7, 8, and 10 inch versions.
Blass says other devices coming to Verizon include Sony Xperia Z4 and HTC Desire 526 smartphones, as well as the upcoming (and as-yet unannounced) 4th-gen iPad mini.
Normally it’s a good idea to take this sort of leaked info with a grain of salt… but Blass has a better track record than most leakers. That wasn’t enough for him to develop a successful business mode though, so now he leaks info on an occasional basis as a hobby instead of doing it professionally, which means his leaks are pretty few and far between these days.
