Take the guts of an HTC One M9 smartphone, throw them in a phone with the higher-resolution display and camera of the HTC One M9+ and then replace the metal with a waterproof plastic case and what have you got?
Apparently the answer is the HTC J Butterfly 3, which is launching in Japan in June.
The phone may be available in other markets as the HTC Butterfly 3 soon, but it probably won’t be coming to the US anytime soon: HTC’s Butterfly series doesn’t usually make it to US shores.
The HTC J Butterfly 3 features a 5.2 inch, 2560 x 1440 pixel display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, a microSD card slot, and a 2,700 mAh battery. It will ship with Android 5.0 Lollipop software.
It features a 20.2MP rear camera with dual lenses, a 13MP front-facing camera, support for 192 kHz/24-bit audio, and stereo front-facing speakers. The phone’s case is IPX5/IPX7 rated for water and dust resistance. It’ll be available in white, blue, and red.
The phone supports 802.11ac WiFi, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC, and 4G LTE and WiMAX 2+. Japanese wireless carrier KDDI will be one of the first to offer the HTC J Butterfly 3.

This is what they should have released in the USA. Waterproof phones are 2legit. It would have really ate into the S6 sales.
