It’s been a while since HTC has released an Android tablet (unless you count the 2014 Nexus 9 which HTC built for Google). Now it looks like the phone maker may be getting ready to launch another tablet under its own brand name.
HTC hasn’t officially made an announcement yet, but a tablet called the HTC H7 has popped up at several places on the internet in the past few weeks, and it seems likely that it’ll be an entry-level tablet.
Earlier this month @upleaks suggested that the HTC H7 would be a cheap tablet coming in the second quarter of 2015. Then an HTC tablet showed up at the Bluetooth SIG website.
Now Indian import site Zauba has more details… including some specs and possible pricing information.
The HTC H7 is said to be a tablet with a 7 inch screen, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and dual SIM card slots.
The price per unit is shown as 9,565 rupees, or about $150. But it’s not entirely clear if that’s the wholesale or retail price. It’s also possible that a WiFi-only model without SIM card slots could be cheaper.
All told, it certainly looks like HTC plans to launch a cheap tablet in the coming months. It’s not clear what markets it will be sold in or if HTC is working on any other tablets with better specs (and higher price tags) at the moment.
