Google’s Chrome web browser for desktops comes in three basic versions: Stable, Beta, and Dev Channel. The same is true of the Chrome OS software that runs on Chromebooks and Chromeboxes.
You can download it to test experimental new features before they make it to Chrome Beta or Chrome. New versions will be made available at about the same time as Dev channel releases for other platforms.
Keep in mind, some of the features that make it to the Dev channel may be buggy… but at least you’ll get to see them before your more risk-averse friends.
There is actually a fourth version of Chrome that’s even more bleeding edge. Chrome Canary builds are released every single night… but Google has no plans to offer a Canary channel for Android.
