Want a smartwatch you don’t need to charge every day… or every few days… or every week?
Vector is taking a less-is-more approach to smartwatches by offering a model with fewer features than some models… but one killer feature: up to a month of battery life. At least, that’s what the company is promising.
Vector introduced its new line of smartwatches at the Baselworld show in Switzerland this week.
The company’s watches can pair with Android, iOS or Windows phone devices and vibrating to let you know when a notification or alarm is triggered…. you won’t see notifications on your watch display.
Vector’s devices are more watch than smart, featuring classic watch designs, monochrome always-on LCD displays, and a low-power operating system that has far less functionality than you get with Android Wear or the Apple Watch.
The company is taking pre-orders for three models. There are two versions of the $349 limited edition Luna with a round watch face: one with a black nylon strap, and another with a brown leather strap. There’s also a limited edition $199 Meridian watch with a square face and a black nylon strap.
If you care more about being able to view the time than you do about being able to order a pizza from your wrist, these smartwatches might be a better fit than competing models that offer more features. But I’ll be curious to know whether the Vector smartwatches actually live up to their promise of 30 days between charges.
Samsung Gear Smart watches are still the best on the market. But they are not cheap.
Nice, but looks like there’s quite a massive bezel inside the glass, and the price premium for the round version seems a tad steep.
You can see the notifications on the watch, but only when you move your wrist. Otherwise they will stay hidden.
