Huawei has been developing its own chips for mobile devices including smartphones and tablets for a few years. The company’s latest is a 64-bit, 8-core chip called the Kirin930.
It could be used in upcoming smartphones and tablets such as the Huawei P8 and Huawei MediaPad X2.
Like a lot of octa-core processors, the Kirin930 uses ARM’s big.LITTLE architecture to pair 4 high-performance CPU cores with 4 lower-power cores as a way to balance performance and energy efficiency. But instead of using ARM Cortex-A57 and ARM Cortex-A53, the Kirin930 uses what Huawei is calling an enhanced version of ARM’s Cortex-A53 design for its higher-power CPU cores.
So the chip has 4 Cortex-A53e cores with clock speeds up to 2.2 GHz and 4 Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz. This means the Kirin930 might not be as fast as some recent top-tier chips from Qualcomm, Samsung, and others. But it may also be less-power hungry, which could lead to longer battery life.
The processor also uses ARM Mali-T628MP4 graphics, supports GSM, WCDMA, and LTE.
But Huawei HiSilicon SoC brand have many competitors in China as Rockchip,Allwinner,Actions Semiconductor,Nufront.
