Scribd is a sort of Netflix-for-eBook service that lets you access thousands of books for $9 per month. Now about 10,000 of those books include digital comics and graphic novels.

The company has added titles from top comics publishers including Marvel, IDW/Top Shelf, Boom! Studios, and Dynamite.

scribd comics

Titles include Spider-Man, X-Men, Transformers, the Dresden Files, Archie, and My Little Pony, among many others. You won’t get access to nearly as many issues of Marvel comics as you would with a $10 per month Marvel Unlimited subscription, but Scribd offers material from other publishers, which could make it a better deal for folks who aren’t big on superhero comics.

Notably absent from Scribd’s catalog? Any titles from DC. So don’t expect to finder Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, or Wonder Woman comics here.

Scribd lets you read books in a web browser or on an iOS, Android, or Amazon Fire device — and you can save items to read offline if you’re using one of the company’s mobile apps. You can also use the apps to search for titles or browse by author, artist, character, series, or other criteria.

Scribd does not support eReaders with E Ink screens such as the Kindle Paperwhite or NOOK Glowlight.

While a Scribd subscription runs $9 per month, you can sign up for a 1-month free trial to see if it’s worth the money… or to read as many free comics (and other books) as you can cram into a 30 day period.
