Valentine’s day is more than just a holiday designed to sell greeting cards, flowers, and chocolates. Amazon is also using the opportunity to sell tablets and eReaders.

The company is running sales on several Kindle and Fire tablets and eBook readers during the week of Valentine’s day, which means you can pick up the latest Kindle or Kindle Paperwhite for $20 off or get discounts on Amazon tablets. The best deal may be today’s one-day sale on the Fire HDX 8.9 tablet with 64GB of storage. Normally it sells for $479. Today it’s just $299.

  1. Of course the Q190 is sold out again, as is the HP Stream Mini. Does Lenovo or HP care? Who cares, we’ve still got Zotac. I was able to order one of those Zotac ZBoxes with memory, ssd and Windows for $159 a couple weeks ago. Newegg wouldn’t let me cancel after the impulse buy, giving the usual excuse that it was being prepared for shipping. Sure enough, they cleared it out of the warehouse real fast. Thing is, now that it’s here, I pretty much like it, even though its larger and has less style than the other two. On its side, fits right in behind the flatscreen, and adding memory or SATA drives is super easy (except for the cracking the case open and hoping the bottom plastic tabs don’t bust part). Unfortunately, getting to the mSATA slot appears difficult and warranty voiding. Pleasantly surprised to see that the memory is actually pretty cheap (roughly $20 for 2gb, $32 for 4gb). Almost makes me want to get a bare bones version for $119 and put Ubuntu on it.
