A hacker that goes by the name QXCG;– was successfully able to jailbreak Razer’s new fitness band Nabu using its open software developer kit (SDK). If you choose to do so yourself you will be able to upload your own firmware and turn the $100 device into a handy wearable device.
QXCG;– explains that Razer sponsored the 2015 Hack & Roll 24-hour hackathon event by handing out the device to participants for the jail-breaking event.
Through testing and experimentation, QXCG;– was able to tap into the Nabu Utility application to change the current firmware and upload a modified copy of the product manifest.
QXCG;– notes that the device has significant potential for users uploading customized firmware to be more than just a fitness-based device.
