Zotac has announced plans to expand the ZBOX family of small form-factor desktop computers this year. The company will be showing off several new models in Las Vegas during the week of CES, including new Pico, E-Series, and C-Series models.

The Zotac ZBOX C-series desktops are interesting because they’re passively cooled. That means these little computers have no noisy fans, and if equipped with a solid state drive instead of a hard drive, they’ll have no moving parts at all.

Zotac says the new ZBOX CI321 nano has an Intel dual-core processor, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11ac WiFi, and dual-channel memory.

The company is also updating its line of ZBOX pico mini-PCs. I reviewed the first ZBOX pico last year. That computer featured an Intel Atom processor and a tiny case that made the whole computer small enough to fit into a pants pocket.

Zotac’s second-generation ZBOX pico will come in two versions, with one featuring an Intel processor and another sporting an AMD chip. Both will have dual display support, Gigabit Ethernet, and USB 3.0.

Meanwhile Zotac is also updating its E-series gaming computers. The new models will still have small cases, but they now support 4K screen resolutions and multiple displays.

Zotac is also unveiling a few other systems, including:

  • A prototype mini-PC with support for up to 4 displays
  • A model with support for two 2.5 inch SATA drives
  • Two new “custom modified” ZBOX Sphere OI520 mini PC models

Most Zotac computers are sold as barebones systems without an operating system (but with optional memory and storage), but recently Zotac has begun offering some of its tiny desktops pre-loaded with Windows 8.1 with Bing software.

  1. An AMD powered Pico? I’m scared and excited.

The lower price point of AMDs APU lineup has such a fine line between terrible and amazing.

  2. Very nice. Let’s hope they all have 802.11ac as standard now.. and that the mini PCs run cooler. My Zotac Pico becomes scorching hot overnight (and it’s Canadian Winter here!)
