Kairos isn’t the only company that figures there are folks in the market for a smartwatch who don’t want to give up on luxury time pieces… so the solution could be a smart wrist-strap.

Luxury watch company Montblanc has just introduced it’s own smart accessory, which it calls an e-Strap. It’s a leather wrist-strap with an OLED touchscreen display that can show notifications from your phone.

This lets you wear a mechanical watch, but interact with smart features by twisting your wrist so you can see the screen.

The display is an 0.9 inch, black and white, 128 x 36 pixel screen and you can pair the e-strap with your phone over Bluetooth to view notifications for phone calls, text messages, email messages, appointments, reminders, and social media. It also has a vibration motor to send you alerts when you may nto be looking at the screen.

There’s also a pedometer function that lets you use the device as a fitness tracker.

According to A Blog to Watch, the e-Strap will sell for about 250 Euros (about $300 US), which may seem expensive when you can get a full-fledged smartwatch for less money. But if you’re the sort of person who would spend thousands of dollars on a Montblanc watch in the first place, a $300 strap probably seems like a bargain.

  1. Would expect some chinese companies to hammer out something similar on the cheap now that the idea is out. This is after all pretty much a continuation of the bluetooth wristbands they have been making for years.

  2. Do they make one for the athletic crowd? -because jocks need support.
Maybe they could call that model the j-Strap?
