HP is launching a new 8 inch Windows tablet called the HP Pro Tablet 408. While this machine ships with Windows 8.1 software, it’s an entry-level device aimed at business customers, and it’s actually cheaper than the company’s new Pro Slate tablets with Android software.

The HP Pro Tablet 408 has a starting price of $299.

The tablet features an 8 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel display and an Intel Atom Z3736F Bay Trail processor.

It has 2GB of RAM, features an 8MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, stereo speakers, a 4800 mAh battery, and a micro HDMI port.

HP will offer models with 32GB or 64GB of storage. There’s also a microSDXC card slot.

The tablet measures 0.35 inches thick and weighs about 13 ounces.

But it’s launching at a time when there are plenty of small, low-cost Windows tablets on the market. If there’s anything that helps set the HP Pro Tablet 408 apart, it’s the fact that HP is positioning this as a business machine which means it’ll be sold by the company’s business division and include enterprise support and services.

We first learned about this tablet in December, but at the time HP hadn’t officially announced the Pro Tablet 408.
