Now that Intel’s 5th-gen Intel Core chips are ready to go, PC makers are starting to announced devices powered by the new processors… and they’re not all laptops and tablets. Gigabyte is updating its BRIX line of mini-desktop computers with new models featuring Intel Core i3, Core i5, and Core i7 Broadwell chips.
Intel’s new chips are more efficient than their predecessors, but don’t offer much more processing power. Where they should make a big difference is in graphics, and Gigabyte is taking advantage of this, promising support for 4K Ultra HD video playback.
The new Brix models feature HDMI and Mini DisplayPort, 802.11ac WiFi, and 4 USB 3.0 ports.
Anandtech reports models with Core i7 chips will also feature support for NFC and that all three models will be available in normal, compact version (with room for a solid state drive) or Gigabyte Brix s variants (with a bigger case and room for a hard drive).
I’m curious what the heat will be like on this one… I love the form factor but the fan noise could be distracting
USB 4.0??
