Arbor plans to launch a 10 inch Android tablet with an octa-core processor, a rugged case, and 10 hours of battery life. But the tablet won’t come cheap: the Gladius 10 has a suggested retail price of $1,030 and up.
It should be available in May, 2015.
The Arbor Gladius 10Â designed for use in industrial environments and can withstand temperatures from -14 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit, as well as drops of up to 4 feet.
The tablet is dust and water resistant, has a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating for protection against scratches, and a raised bezel for LCD impact protection.
It supports WiFi, Bluetooth, and GSM wireless networks and there’s an option for an integrated bar code reader.
Other specs include a 10.1 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel TFT display, a MediaTek MTK8392 ARM Cortex-A7 octa-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a 13MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, GPS, RFID and NFC. The tablet has a mini HDMI port and microSD card slot.
Arbor will offer optional accessories including a desktop cradle and an in-vehicle charging station. Both offer wireless charging.
What is the track record for this company’s devices?
I can see they arent using hardened components if they went octa-core this soon.
You have to get up early to beat Panasonic or Fujitsu in this segment… and at those prices.
