The Alcatel OneTouch WATCH line of smartwatches are set to hit the streets in the first quarter of 2015, and they’re expected to have starting prices of under $150.
That would make these devices relatively affordable when compared with other smartwatches… especially models with round watch faces.
Alcatel OneTouch smartwatches have round 1.2 inch color touchscreen displays, heart rate sensors, Bluetooth, and select models feature NFC.
The company has developed its own smartwatch operating system rather than using Android Wear or another existing platform. You’ll still be able to receive notifications form your iPhone or Android phone on your wrist, view weather updates, control your phone’s camera and music playback, and monitor your steps, sleep, and heart rate, among other things. But you won’t be able to use apps developed specifically for Android Wear.
The watches have 210mAh batteries which provide 2 to 5 days of battery life, feature IP67 water-resistant designs, and sport vibration motors for alerts.
Models with resin and stainless steel bands will be available.
I was excited until I read that they weren’t Android wear devices.
