Alcatel OneTouch is bringing a new line of smartwatches to the Consumer Electronics Show, featuring a round watch face, support for a range of bands, and an “affordable” price tag.
Update: The company has officially unveiled the new line of smartwatches, which will sell for around $150 and up.
While the company hasn’t actually said how much its first smartwatches will cost, Alcatel OneTouch says its new WATCH series watches will offer “elegant design at a very accessible price,” and will be available “at a fraction of the cost of competitors.”
Of course, nine tenths is a fraction. So is five thirds, for that matter. And it’s not clear if the competitors Alcatel OneTouch is referring to are high-priced devices such as the upcoming Apple Watch or the Samsung Gear S, or lower-cost device like the Asus ZenWatch or pebble Smartwatch.
What we do know is that the Alcatel OneTouch smartwatches will be able to pair with an Android phone and let you control music playback, receive notifications, and trigger your phone’s camera to snap photos. it also supports activity tracking.
