The Motorola Moto G is a low-cost smartphone with decent specs and software that’s pretty close to a pure version of Google Android. Motorola launched the first Moto G in late 2013 as a 3G-only device, before adding a 4G LTE model half a year later.

Now it looks like history is repeating. The 2nd-gen Moto G launched in September as a 3G-only device. But it looks like a 4G model is on the way.

Motorola’s Brazilian website mentions a new version of the phone with support for 4G LTE. That model also has 16GB of built-in storage. Up until now Motorola has only offered a model with 8GB.

The Brazilian website also mentions single-SIM and dual SIM models of the phone and the new LTE model has a 2,390 mAh battery (compared with the 2,070 mAh battery that comes with the 3G model).

Other specs for the new Moto G 4G appear to be pretty much the same as for the 3G model. The phone has a 5 inch, 1280 x 720 pixel IPS display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB of RAM, Android 4.4 KitKat software, an 8MP rear camera and 2MP front camera, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, and a microSD card slot.

There’s no word on if or when we’ll see the 2nd-gen Moto G with LTE and/or 16GB of storage in the United States.

  1. Pass… Gonna wait out for the next one with Snapdragon 410 and a beefier batt at least fully rounded up to 2500mAh instead.

  2. I just discovered meizu note … for 160$ is the best phone you can desire 🙂

    1. Like that M1 Note as well but the $160 question is; which co. has proper upds’ schedule? There’s Moto for you. Meizu isn’t even inching up to Oppo’s pace of acknowledging 3rd party ROMs/devs yet.

      1. come on 160$, you get 8core 64bit, 2gb ram, 5.5′ hd, gorrilla glass 3, 16gb rom, 4g … u really need any more ?
Since the phone looks great, you will probably see more roms for it coming … here in china people says meizu is better than xiami and I start to think the same …

        1. Like I’ve said before I like the M1 Note the specs are fine. I just don’t wanna get stuck on a single firmware revision for a whole year before the next update that’s all. I hope Meizu can really work something out on that end.

  3. Great phone with much needed improvements for the US market. Price this at $200 and watch them fly for the BYOD carriers like Ting, T Mobile, etc..

    1. $200 is a bit over price for a slightly better Nexus 4 if you asked me.

    2. 720p is starting to shift towards the low end and Snapdragon 400 at 1.2GHz is rather outdated for 2015 perf, you get about twice the perf with quad A53 at 1,5GHz.
