Budget device maker Blu is launching its first product with a 7 inch screen, but it’s not a tablet. The Blu Studio 7.0 is an Android smartphone with a 7 inch display.

It’s not the first 7 inch phone on the market. But unlike the HP 7 VoiceTab, Asus FonePad, and most other devices in this category I’ve seen the Blu Studio 7.0 is available for purchase in the United States.

You can pick one up from Amazon for less than $150.

The Blue Studio 7.0 has low-end features that match the price, including a 1024 x 600 pixel display, an unspecified 1.3 GHz dual-core processor with ARM Mali 400 graphics, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of storage.

But it does have some surprising features including 802.11ac WiFi and a 5MP rear camera with autofocus and an LED flash.

The tablet smartphone runs Android 4.4 KitKat software, supports GSM HSPA+ networks. That means it should work with T-Mobile and AT&T in the United States, as well as MVNOs including Cricket, Metro PCS, Straight Talk, and Net 10.

It has a microSD card slot, Bluetooth 3.0, FM radio, and a 2MP front-facing camera. It has a 3000mAh battery.

The Blu Studio 7.0 measures 7.4″ x 4.1″ x 0.4″ and it comes in white, blue, grey, and gold colors.

  1. Dunno, I don’t see it. At $150 it is subpar for a tablet with these features. And just adding the SIM and GSM radio doesn’t make up for it.

  2. I know they’re not for everyone, but personally, I love that we’re seeing more huge phones like this. I only make or take a couple of calls on any given month, so using it as a phone is not as important to me as having a large screen for web browsing, reading email, using social media, watching videos, and playing games. Next time I’ve got a few extra bucks laying around, I think I’m going to get this phone to replace my teeny-tiny-4″-screen RAZR M.

    1. then you would also look stupid with a 4 in phone to your head

  3. There’s the much better Ulefone U7 for about $200, for those who like a ping-pong tablet handy.

  4. all Blu phones ever do for me is elicit yawns… when do they make an LTE version?

  5. Holly sh1t! This monstruosity is bigger than my kindle PPW2!
It’s a tablet with GSm features, not a smartphone IMHO.
