Earlier this year Asus introduced a tiny desktop computer with an Intel Bay Trail processor and what the company originally said would be a fanless design… until Asus decided to go ahead and put a fan in the case anyway.
Now Asus has a new mini PC with a remarkably similar looking design. But this time it’s really fanless. Probably.
The Asus E210 is positioned as a thin client computer which will be available with Windows Embedded 8 Standard, Windows Embedded Standard 7, or DOS (or what I assume is actually freeDOS, since it’s been a while since Microsoft sold DOS). I don’t see any reason it wouldn’t be able to run other operating systems though.
The computer has an Intel Celeron N2807 dual-core processor, support for up to 4GB of RAM, up to 128GB of solid state storage, and 802.11b/g/n WiFi.
It has HDMI and VGA ports, an Ethernet jack, 3 USB 2.0 and 1 USB 3.0 ports, headphone and mic jacks, an SDXC card reader, and a serial port.
The system measures 8.6″ x 6.8″ x 1.1″ and weighs 1.5 pounds.

CEC? could make a great mediacenter
Looks like a Point of sale kiosk computer.
The $149 Gigabyte GB-BXBT-2807 has identical specs, also fanless, and supports 2.5″ HDD/SSD.
DOS!

Seems like a nice one.
Interesting! And the price?
How cheap would it have to be to keep it interesting?
I don’t think this device could be cheap enough to compare to any of the Barebones mini PCs in the $150-200 price range, all of which are more powerful, and don’t have a silly 128gb storage limitation.
I don’t think this is designed to compete with the budget systems out there. It looks like it’s an industrial strength mini PC.
