Sony’s PlayStation TV basically takes the guts of a PS Vita and sticks it into a $99 box that you can plug into your TV to play games on a big screen.
But the folks at Gametech figured out there’s another way you can use the Vita: hook it up to a portable screen with gaming buttons and use it like a PS Vita… but bigger.
The DekaVita 7 features a 7 inch display, HDMI, USB, and power adapters, and all the buttons you’ll need for gaming.
Gametch plans to bring the DekaVita 7 to market in the spring of 2015, but Japanese customers can pre-order one this month for 19,800 yen (about $172). The price will eventually go up to 23,000 yen (about $200).
The DekaVita 7 has a 1024 x 600 pixel IPS display with 175 degree viewing angles, a battery to let you play games on the go, and support for doing most things you can do with a PS TV including streaming internet video, playing select Vita games, and streaming PlayStation games from a console connected to your network.

k, so can I put a android stick into the ports if I chose? hmmmmm…
IT DOESN’T EVEN HAVE TOUCHSCREEN/TOUCHPAD FUNCTIONALITY.
So the end result is a gaming tablet that can’t do any tablet things? Weird.
I’m not sure why Sony doesn’t take a different approach – make the Vita more of an open platform. Its hardware specs aren’t much better than an Archos GamePad or a JXD gaming tablet, right? So why doesn’t Sony just change their portable Playstation platform into an Android app. They could release a full-Android gaming tablet – built to their specifications – and release the games as pay downloads instead of proprietary cards.
Hell, they could resell most PS1 and PS2 classics to customers of such a system.
Because Sony is excellent for doing just that.
For that price, might as well buy a separate… VITA!
Let me get this straight,
this is a $200 Accessory, to turn a $99 home console version of the PS Vita, into a portable gaming system, while the regular PS Vita, which is already a portable system sells for $200 by itself (according to a quick Amazon search).
Just get a Vita and leave your PS TV at home.
This is the same reason i didn’t get the Tablet Dock for my Asus Padfone 2. I got an amazing deal on the phone by itself, and when i looked into getting the tablet dock later on it turns out i would have to pay 150-200 EUR for it, when i can get intel quadcore tablets starting at around 120 EUR or 150 EUR if i wanted an ASUS Model.
ya that is pretty baffling
