As expected, Lenovo’s preparing to launch a fitness tracker called the Lenovo Smartband. After passing through a few other regulatory agency websites this summer, the Smartband showed up at the FCC website.

And this time there are photos and a user manual.

We still don’t know how much it’ll cost, or exactly how the user interface will look. But most of the other beans have been effectively spilled.

Here’s the deal. The Lenovo SmartBand is a wearable wristband with fitness tracking features, Bluetooth support for synchronizing data with your phone, and a small display. It can show your latest fitness stats, display the time, and offer reminders. It can also vibrate and display text to alert you when there’s an incoming call to your phone.

The Lenovo Smartband offers up to 7 days of battery life, supports Bluetooth 4.0, and can track steps, sleep patterns, heart rate, and estimated calories burned. Among other things, it’ll also remind you to stay hydrated, if that’s the kind of reminder you’re likely to need while working out or just going about your day.

The device is IP67 water and dust resistant, and you can pair it with devices running Android 4.3 or later or iOS 7 or later.

All told, the Smartband seems like Lenovo’s answer to the Samsung Gear Fit or dedicated fitness trackers from companies like Fitbit, Jawbone, or Withings rather than a device to compete with general purpose smartwatches. But it’s nice to see another option with long battery life… particularly one that has some smartwatch features such as incoming call notifications.
