Earlier this year HP got back into the smartphone game with the launch of a line of HP Slate VoiceTab phones with big screens. Initially sold only in India, you can now pick up some models in Europe as well.
Now it looks like a new, cheaper model is on the way. The HP 7 VoiceTab 1321ra is a phone with a 6.95 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display, a quad-core MediaTek processor, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of storage.
Accoridng to Juggly.cn, it’s expected to sell for about 10,990 Indian rupees, or about $180 US.
The HP 7 VoiceTab features a MediaTek MT6372 ARM Cortex-A7 processor, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean software, and HSPA+ connectivity.
It has 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS and features a 2MP rear camera, a 0.3MP front-facing camera, and a microSD card slot. There are stereo speakers, a mcro USB 2.0 OTGÂ port, and a 3,000Ah battery.
While the phone is big, it’s also cheap — and that helps explain some design choices such as the TN LCd display (with limited viewing angles) and the fixed-focus rear camera.
great idea, use it as a cheap data tablet…
Those select markets being the ones that don’t know any better…
And these guys wonder why they’re going out of business.
