Dell’s new Chromebok with an Intel Core i3 Haswell processor is now available for $379.
This Dell Chromebook 11 model features an 11.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display, 4GB of RAM, 16GB of solid state storage, and a 51Wh battery, and it runs Google’s Chrome operating system.
The notebook measures less than an inch thick, weighs 2.9 pounds, has HDMI output, stereo speakers, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11n WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0
Dell isn’t the first company to offer a Chrome OS laptop with a Core i3 chip. Acer offers a model with similar hardware and a $350 price tag. To be honest, a Chromebook probably don’t need a processor that fast. While the Acer model I reviewed was one of the fastest Chrome OS laptops I’ve tested to date, it didn’t actually feel that much faster than a model with a Celeron Haswell processor in day to day use.
Dell continues to offer Chromebook 11 models featuring Intel Celeron 2955U processors for under $300, and Acer has several versions that sell for even less.
While the Dell Chromebook 11 with Core i3 is available for order now, Dell doesn’t expect orders to ship until mid-December.
