Barnes & Noble and Samsung are now selling their second co-branded tablet. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 NOOK 10.1 is now available for $300.
That’s about the same price you’d pay for an ordinary 10 inch Galaxy Tab 4, but this model comes with the B&N NOOK app pre-loaded, plus $200 worth of free content including books, TV shows, and apps (that you don’t get to choose) and a $5 credit you can use to buy your own stuff from the NOOK Store.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 NOOK 10.1 features a 10.1 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel display, a 1.2 GHz quad-core Marvell processor, 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and a microSD card reader.
It supports 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi and GPS, has a 3MP rear camera and 1.3MP front camera, and the tablet measures 9.6″ x 6.9″ x 0.3″ and weighs 1.1 pounds. It should get up to 10 hours of battery life.
While the tablet has NOOK branding and comes with NOOK apps for buying and reading eBooks and magazines as well as movies, TV shows, apps, and other content, this is also a Google certified device that comes with the Google Play Store and other Google apps including Gmail and Google Apps.
The tablet also supports Samsung’s multi-window features that let you run more than one app on the screen at the same and allows you to create up to 6 different user profiles so you can share the tablet with family or friends.
While Barnes & Noble’s NOOK division continues to produce its own eReaders with E Ink screens, the company is no longer manufacturing its own Android tablets. That line died with last year’s NOOK HD and NOOK HD+ models.
