Computer motherboard maker BIOSTAR is launching a new line of small form-factor desktop computers. The BIOSTAR iDEQ-T1 series mini PC systems measure about 8.3″ x 7.3″ x 1.6″ and weigh about 1.8 pounds.
The computers are powered by Intel Celeron Bay Trail processors, support screen resolutions up to 2560 x 1440 pixels, and support Windows 7 or later.
BIOSTAR’s mini desktops feature Intel Celeron N2940 processors, have 2.5 inch drive bays for SATA 2 storage, 2 DDR3 memory slots for up to 16GB of RAM, and a PCIe slot which can be used for an optional 802.11b/g/n WiFi card.
Other features include Gigabit Ethernet, 1 USB 3.0 port, 3 USB 2.0 pots, HDMI and VGA ports, mic and line jacks, and a VESA mount bracket which you can use to attach the computer to the back of a display.
Ah, I saw “mini computer” and thought maybe DEC was making a comeback.
I think it looks very nice. Now we just need the price and that Intel launches its NUC5C-PYH Braswell Celeron based NUC so that we can compare those two.
Regarding the one Mini PCIe slot it is no problem to find cards with both Wi-Fi AND Bluetooth (i.e. Intel Centrino 6235 for about $20).
I have 2 comments on the iDEQ-T1 though:
1) It would have been nice with support for DDR3L higher than 1333 (i.e. 1600 MHz)
2) It would have been nice with 3 x USB 3.0 and 1 x USB 2.0 (instead of 3 x USB 2.0 and 1 x USB 3.0). It wouldn’t have affected the choice of PSU. The current setup demands about 30W:
* CPU ~7.5 W
* USB 2.0 ~ 7.5 W (3 x 2.5 W)
* USB 3.0 ~ 4.5 W
* Harddisk ~ 6 W
* Mini PCIe ~ 3.5 W
… and with 3 x USB 3.0 it would just have been 4 W more.

No built in wireless? No bluetooth? The only expansion (PCIe) will be used for the wireless card. Not sure what market they are aiming for with this one.
By pcie, I’ll assume minipcie, which means you have a wide variety of WiFi and Bluetooth options. The zotac zbox bi320 didn’t even have that, but it did come with a haswell 2957u processor which is more important to me than wifi.
DOA. zbox bi320 is better and $120 @Newegg. I could not see anywhere that this box is fanless.
Nice mini-ITX based pre-built PC.
They sound more like bare bones to me…user provides memory, storage and WiFi card.
