Whoops. Google hasn’t announced plans for its next Nexus tablet yet, and neither has HTC… but the companies are widely expected to be working together on a 9 inch tablet sporting an NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor.
And you know what? Those expectations appear to be right on the money. A legal filing from NVIDA related to a lawsuit against Qualcomm and and Samsung has this little tidbit:
“The HTC Nexus 9, expected in the third quarter of 2014, is also expected to use the Tegra K1.”
If there’s anyone HTC and Google who would probably know that an HTC Nexus 9 is on the way, it’d be the company making the chip that powers the tablet.
It’ll probably be a little while before we see an official announcement, but word on the street is that the tablet will features an 8.9 inch, 2048 x 1440 pixel display, NVIDIA’s 64-bit processor, stereo front-facing speakers, and more.

HTC has sent out invites for a “double exposure” media event on October 8th
Kind of odd to use qualifying language like “expected” if the due date is only weeks away. You’d think they know one way or the other if their chip was being spec’d for a big release of a device on the doorstep of launch.
If they are right then there won’t be a while before we find out the details. Q3 means this month so 3 weeks left.
