Fitness trackers may be able to track your movement and help you meet your fitness goals, but most of them aren’t particularly attractive. The Misfit Shine might be one of the best looking of the bunch, at least partly because it’s basically a simple circle with no screen. You can strap it into a wristband and wear it like a watch or attach it to a necklace and wear it like a pendant.

But at $100, the Misfit Shine might not be for everyone.

Enter the Misfit Flash. It’s a similar device… but it sells for half the price.

The Misfit Flash has many of the best features of the Shine, including a battery that lasts for up to 6 months. Instead of recharging the battery, you can replace it with a standard CR2032 watch battery.

It’s also waterproof and capable of tracking steps, distance, and sleep quality. Tap the front of the device and a series of lights will show you how close you are to meeting your activity goals for the day. The Misfit Flash will also sync your data with an Android or iPhone app so you can see more detailed information.

There are reasons the Flash is cheaper than the Shine though. The new model is made of plastic instead of aluminum and it’s waterproof for dives up to 30 meters while the Shine can handle depths of 50 meters.

The Misfit Flash is available for pre-order for $50. There are 7 different color options including black, white, red, blue, fuschia, turquoise, and “zest,” which is a sort of yellow/green color.

Misfit includes a sports band and a clasp so you can wear the fitness tracker around your wrist like a watch or clip it to a belt, pocket, or shirt.

At a time when a growing number of smartwatches are including fitness tracking functionality, it’s possible that the days of dedicated activity trackers could be numbered. On the other hand, at $50 the Misfit Flash is an awful lot more affordable than a $350 Apple Watch.
