HP launched a low-cost 2-in-1 tablet with an 11.6 inch display and an Intel Pentium Bay trail processor in late 2013. Now the company is adding a new model with a 10 inch screen and an Intel Atom processor.
The new HP Pavilion x2 is a Windows convertible that gets up to 11.75 hours of battery life.
You can use the Pavilion x2 as a standalone table or use a it like a notebook thanks to a keyboard cover which also acts as a screen protector and a multi-position stand.
Last year’s model had a keyboard dock instead of a cover, which means the 11.6 inch model is probably easier to use on your lap than the new model.
The new HP Pavilion x2Â features front-facing stereo speakers with DTS sound.
The tablet is expected to go on sale October 29th for $330 and up.
Isn’t this the one that was originally said to come with a Wacom pen? (and other configurations) Or was that a different HP 2 in 1 that wasn’t included? Oh, looking back I guess that was the “HP Pro x2” and it’s still never been released.
Was that the one that didnt have a USB port? And you had to get an accessory sleeve to get a USB port, and a smart card reader? I think its obvious why that never reached market.
If someone released something similar to the Thinkpad tablet that was light weight, $150 cheaper and dropped some of the non-useful bells and whistles (who needs a keyboard dock? Spend $11 and you have a keyboard) they’d have something going there. I was having a major nerd-gasm on the Ramos Digital i10 Note but alas that never made it to production. I just want a small windows tablet with a long battery life that allows me to sketch, read comic book, and watch movies doesn’t have to be ultra-powerful that is what i have a desktop for.
Any news on the stream 14 inch windows laptop?
poewr port is the micro USB and it has a full sized usb host? wow, for me this has entered the ring against the t200 whenever they decide to start selling it…
(minus the HDD and the ethernet port of the t200)
I might be alone in this, but I dont really consider a device a “2 in 1” if it requires a kickstand to stand up whilst using its keyboard. To me it needs to be as useful as a laptop to be a 2-in-1, and not just a table-top friendly keyboard/tablet combo.
