Acer and Toshiba introduced new Chromebooks featuring Intel Celeron Bay Trail processors this summer, and now they’re available for purchase.

The Acer Chromebook 11 is a $199 model that promises long battery life at a low price, while the Toshiba Chromebook 2 costs a bit more… but offers premium options including a full HD display.

Acer Chromebook 11 ($199)

Acer’s new Chromebook features an 11.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display, an Intel Celeron N2830 Bay TRail processor, and up to 8.5 hours of batterylife.

It has 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, HDMI output, 1 USB 3.0 port, 1 USB 2.0 ports, 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0. The Chrome OS laptop measures 0.7 inches thick and weighs 2.4 pounds.

Toshiba Chromebook 2 ($250$330)

Toshiba’s latest Chrome OS laptop is bigger and a bit pricier than Acer’s. It has a starting price of $250, a 13.3 inch display, and an Intel Celeron N2840 Bay Trail processor.

But Toshiba offers two different models.

For $250 you get a laptop with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a 1366 x 768 pixel display, and 11 hours of battery life.

Toshiba also offers a $330 version which has 4GB of RAM, a 1920 x 1080 pixel display, and 9 hours of battery life.

The cheaper model is already shipping, while the full HD version of the Toshiba Chromebook 2 is up for pre-order.

  1. Why can’t I get a get a Windows computer with the same specs as the Toshiba? I’d gladly pay the extra cost for the OS license and a small storage bump! UGH, I hate PC manufacturers.

    1. I think Dell Inspiron 15 has models with N2830 bay trail processor for less than $300.

  2. Nice review. Can you tell me where the full HD version of the Toshiba Chromebook 2 can be preordered?
